WebP saves the web bandwidth and costs you compatibility

Websites serve WebP because it is roughly 25–30% smaller than JPG at the same quality, which adds up across millions of page loads. The cost lands on you when you save one: a .webp file will not upload to some older systems, will not open in some desktop editors, and will confuse the occasional print shop. Converting to JPG turns it back into the format that works absolutely everywhere.

JPG is the right target when you want maximum compatibility and a small file, and when the image is a photograph rather than a graphic. The one thing to know is that JPG has no transparency: if your WebP has a transparent background, converting to JPG fills it with white. For a photo that is invisible; for a logo it may not be what you want, in which case convert to PNG instead.

The conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, and this tool writes JPG at high quality so the result looks identical to the original.

    How it works

    1. Drop in one or more WebP images
    2. Click Convert
    3. A single file downloads directly; several arrive as a ZIP

WebP is the smaller format the web uses, and converting to JPG restores maximum compatibility for uploading and editing. Remember JPG cannot hold transparency — it becomes white. If you need transparency or lossless quality, WebP to PNG is the better choice, and Compress Image or Resize Image reduces a file further.

Why nothing uploads. Every operation on this page happens inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file is read into memory, processed, and offered back as a download. It is never transmitted. Disconnect from the internet after this page loads and the tool keeps working.

    Frequently asked questions

Why do I keep getting WebP files instead of JPG?
Most websites now serve images as WebP because it is smaller. When you save one it keeps that format. Converting to JPG gives you a file that opens and uploads everywhere.
Will converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?
Only slightly and usually invisibly — this tool writes JPG at 92% quality. For photographs the result looks identical to the WebP.
What happens to a transparent WebP?
The transparency is filled with white, because JPG cannot store it. Convert to PNG instead if you need to keep a transparent background.
Can I convert multiple WebP files at once?
Yes. A single file downloads directly; several come back as a ZIP.
    Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser and the file is never transmitted.
